Terms of Use

Last updated: October 2026

These terms cover your use of the Belanger Digital Solutions website at belangerdigital.com (the "site"). They do not cover paid work.

The short version: you may read the site and contact me through it. That does not make you a client. Client work is governed by a separate signed agreement. The writing, design, code, case studies, and concept sites on this site are mine unless a page says otherwise.

Who you're dealing with

The site is operated by Belanger Digital Solutions, based in Traverse City, Michigan ("I," "me"). If you and I sign a proposal, statement of work, or other contract, that document governs the engagement. If it conflicts with these terms, the signed document wins.

Using the site is not an engagement

Browsing, reading a case study, opening a concept site, or sending the contact form does not create a client relationship, a duty to build or advise, or an agreement to any price, schedule, or result. I decide whether to take a project. Work starts only when both sides have signed something that says so.

Do not send secrets through the form

The contact form is for ordinary inquiries. Do not send passwords, API keys, payment data, customer lists, production exports, or anything you consider confidential. Messages are delivered by email so I can reply. They are not covered by a non-disclosure agreement unless we sign one. If I need confidential material to scope a project, I will ask for it under a written agreement.

Intellectual property

The site's text, visual design, code, diagrams, and the concept sites linked from the work pages are owned by me or used with permission. You may view them for your own evaluation of my work. You may not copy them, republish them, or build a product or marketing site from them without written permission.

Concept sites are demonstrations for fictional businesses. They are not client deliverables and they are not available to reuse.

Work I do for a client is different. Ownership, license, and portfolio rights for that work are set only in that client's agreement. Showing a real project on this site means I have permission to describe it, not that the underlying client materials are mine.

Portfolio pages are illustrations

Descriptions of past work, architectures, and results are examples. They are not a promise that your systems, data, or timeline will turn out the same way. Third-party names (including Lightspeed, Cloudflare, Vercel, Google, and Anthropic) belong to their owners. Naming them describes the kind of work I do. It is not a partnership, endorsement, or certification.

No warranty

The site is provided as-is. I do not warrant that it is complete, current, or error-free, or that any approach described on it will be fit for your business. To the extent the law allows, I disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or lost-profit damages arising only from your use of the site. My total liability for claims arising only from use of the site is limited to one hundred dollars ($100). This limit does not apply to gross negligence or willful misconduct, and it does not limit liability under a signed client agreement. Those agreements set their own terms.

Acceptable use

Do not misuse the site. That includes attempting to break or overload it, probing it without permission, submitting spam or unlawful material through the form, scraping it in a way that degrades service, or presenting my work or a concept site as your own or as a real customer.

Privacy

The privacy policy describes what the site collects and how to ask me to correct or delete an inquiry. These terms do not change that policy.

Michigan law

Michigan law governs these terms, excluding conflict-of-law rules that would apply another state's law. Courts located in Grand Traverse County, Michigan, or the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan, are the exclusive venue for disputes arising only from these terms or the site. You and I consent to personal jurisdiction there.

Changes

I may update these terms as the site changes. The date above is the latest revision. Continued use after an update is your acceptance of the revised terms. A signed client agreement is not amended by a change to this page.
